111 FACES June 10th, 2008-Sept 1st, 2008 Some people have asked me why I did this project? The truth is, it was a way to recognize the people, in my life, who have helped me reach where I am today. It was my way to say thank you for a wonderful year of portraits and for trusting me with some pretty crazy ideas. 111 FACES was about the people in my life – past, present, and future. I would like to thank Ange for arranging the venue. Also, I can’t go without thanking Lisa, Farrah, Tara, Melinda, Kate, Nathan among others for making 111 FACEs my 1st great accomplishment. You have all shown me that friends can come out of nowhere, and I would not have been able to do any of this without all of you. How much do people rely on materialistic stuff? Does what you wear make you even more attractive? Can there be beauty in the darkness? Is it possible to be as gorgeous by just being yourself? The Red Sheet Collection strips away brand names and labels, leaving everyone draped in a red sheet to showcase their personal beauty. Equality and refusing to let society dictate what makes you beautiful was the structure behind this project. Special thanks, goes to Ange for arranging the venue. Also, Krystal, Megz and Tiff for all your help during the project and especially during the Gala. 1111 FACES was a spin-off of an idea I did the summer before. My challenge was to photograph 1111 different faces, which averaged out to 3 people every day for 365 days. If I wanted a day off I would have to photograph 6 people the day before or the day after. After 500 faces, I started to feel the effect of working every day and the tediousness of it all, but I managed to keep going. Some days I ended up photographing 20 or more FACES. After more then 10 months of shooting almost every day, I was finally set to finish the project in late October. Then, on October 23rd, I was taken in for emergency surgery pushing back my time frame even more. After taking a couple weeks off, I gradually booked my final FACEs and finished the project on November 11th, 2009. (Coincidentally 11.11.09.) Special thanks goes out to Vie Tapas and Lounge for the location of the event and of course a special thanks to MY TEAM … Sarah, Krystal, Nadia, Francine, Carole-Anne, Farrah, and Bianca. The anticipated Gala Exposition was hosted by Vie Tapas & Lounge on January 11th, 2010 (01.11.10). _______________________ . _______________________
